Anti-Bullying Week: February 20-23, 2012

Next week New Lisbon School District and Necedah School District is working together to have author of Please Stop Laughing at Me and anti-bullying activist, Jodee Blanco, come and speak about the seriousness of bullying to our Middle School and High School students, staff, AND COMMUNITY!

Middle School students will hear Ms. Blanco speak from 9:30-11:00a.m. on Monday, Feb. 20th!

High School students will hear Ms. Blanco speak from 12:30-2:00p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20th!

Enjoy a FREE dinner with your family on Monday, Feb. 20th!

Dinner will be served at our school from 5:30 PM - 6:15 PM and then hear Ms. Blanco speak about how our communities working together can prevent bullying!

Childcare will also be provided. No reservations are needed.

Movin' and Munchin' Assembly

We will have an assembly on Monday, January 9, 2012, in the high school gym to explain the Movin' and Munchin' Program. The program will run 8 weeks beginning January 9, 2012, and end March 2, 2012. It will include grades 3-6 and the entire staff. This year we will again be heading to Hawaii, with the location of the NFL Pro Bowl as our destination. The date of the Pro Bowl is Sunday, January 29, 2012. We are going to pose the challenge to the students to try and achieve enough miles to get to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl date and then travel back to Wisconsin in February. Good luck!

Necedah Homecoming Next Week

Necedah Area Schools will be having their Homecoming next week. The football game will be on Friday, October 7, 2011, with a Tailgate Dinner from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. (Dinner will include brat or hot dog, chips, potato salad, beans, soda, and a cupcake for dessert. Cost is $5.00 per person.)

Next week students will be participating in dress-up days to support the high school athletes. Monday fourth grade will participate in a dress-up day. Students are allowed to wear hats on Monday, October 3, 2011, in honor of Homecoming. So...take advantage and participate with the rest of fourth grade in wearing hats on Monday. Come on...you know hats aren't allowed in school! BUT ON MONDAY THEY ARE!!!!

Track and Field Day Tomorrow

Tomorrow we will have Track and Field Day for elementary students. Grades 3-5 will participate from 8:15-11:45 AM. We will have a late lunch with lunch and recess running from 12:35-1:15 PM. Please be sure that your child comes to school dressed for the cool weather in the morning and is wearing tennis shoes. You may also want to apply sunscreen to your child as the school cannot and will not provide it due to medical regulations. Let's have some fun and good luck!

Dairy Field Trip on Thursday, May 19, 2011

We will go on our final fourth grade field trip on Thursday, May 19, 2011, to the Central Sands Dairy Farm in Nekoosa, Wisconsin and to the Dairy State Cheese Company in Rudolph, Wisconsin. We can take 3 chaperones on this field trip. The same rule applies as always- first come, first to go. If you have already been on a field trip and other parents would like to go, I will take those parents first so that it is fair. So far we have NO chaperones for this field trip. If you would like to go please e-mail, call, or write a note in your child's agenda. Thanks!

Madison Field Trip Monday, May 9, 2011

We will leave promptly at 8:10 AM on Monday morning to travel to Madison, Wisconsin. We will be going to the Historical Museum first and then to tour the state capitol building. We will eventually head back to the Historical Museum for a self-guided tour. We will have lunch there. Finally, we will visit the Veterans Museum. The bus is scheduled to be back to school at around 4:15 PM. Please be sure to be at the school by 4:00 PM in case we are early so that your child doesn't have to wait. Please send a cold lunch with your student and money if they would like to shop at one of the two gift shops available. Mrs. Houy, Mr. Winters, and Mr. Wyman will be our 3 chaperones. Thank you!

Spring MAPS Testing

This week we will take the Spring MAPS test. This will be our last one for the school year. We will take the MAPS Reading Test today from 1:25-3:00 PM and the MAPS Math Test on Friday, May 6, 2011, from 12:20-1:30 PM. Good luck to all!

Dare 2 Care Day Walk/Run- Saturday, April 30, 2011

Tomorrow Necedah School will host the Dare 2 Care Day Walk/Run. Registration is from 7:00-8:00 AM with the walk/run starting at 7:30 AM. Free t-shirts will go to the first 60 participants. Heritage Fair Presentations- Winners Announced

After planting trees, many students had to change their mindset to teaching US in the afternoon yesterday. Students presented their topics and 3 groups were chosen to represent the Necedah fourth grade at the Mississippi Gifted and Talented Network's Heritage Fair on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. Buckhorn Tree Planting Field Trip

Yesterday fourth graders went to Buckhorn State Park located in Necedah, Wisconsin, to plant trees. It was a breezy and cold day, but we did it! Thank you so much to Ms. Ollerman (Alan's mom) and Mrs. Herried (Emily's mom) for braving the weather and the hard work to be with us to plant trees during this very important week of Arbor Day. Buckhorn and Madison Field Trips Rescheduled

This week we had terrible weather in Wisconsin with a winter storm in spring. Due to the weather, we had to reschedule our Buckhorn Tree-Planting Field Trip for Wednesday, April 27, 2011, and the Madison Field Trip for Monday, May 9, 2011. We will be gone in the morning for Buckhorn and all day for Madison. Please be aware of these new dates and change accordingly. We will keep the same chaperones for both field trips. Calls will be made to those chaperones to confirm the new dates.

American Legion Essay Contest- 4T Winner

Last week on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, Mr. Anderson held a special ceremony for fourth grade students. One student from each fourth grade class was chosen to win the American Legion Essay Contest. The essay was entitled, "The Importance of the Pledge of Allegiance." Selina was the winner from 4 TERRIFIC T and received a special certificate along with $15.00 cash! Wow! Congratulations!!

Do you like sports? Well do we have sports for you! We have all kinds of sports at our school. But the ones we are going to tell you about are Power lifting and Softball. Power lifting went to nationals in Corpus Cristi ,Texas.Some people in Power lifting are Autumn, Tylinn, and Ashley.They all wear Titan clothing that is either red or black. People in softball are Emily, Audrey,Braedynn,Jenna,Selina,and Erin. Softball began in may 2010 last year. We won second place in our tournament last year. We wear red T-shirts, and gray pants.

Hurray,we are going on a field trip,to the capital,on April 19. you should come! We are going to see the giant dome called the rotunda. We heard it is a great tour! We need 3 chaperons for the trip. There will be a tour guide to tour us around 3 of WI. landmarks. When we get there we will first go to the Vets Museum. Next we are going to the Historical Museum. Then we`ll go eat lunch. The final destination is the beautiful Capitol. Now it's time to go home.We will arrive at about 4:15 pm.
